Cluster8 is a noise/electronica project that features looped and programmed drums simultaneously to create a uniquely complex and changable rhythmic form. It also utilises intentional audio-degrading techniques to try and avoid the clean dull sound of digital music.
The name refers to the mathematical format of representing a member of a series. It is therefore the "Eighth Cluster".
This EP is a little experiment I made to take a break from working on the full-length (which I hope to complete later in the year as well). It is a far longer track than most of the 8th Cluster stuff. At first it focuses on the repetition of certain elements as it builds into a wash of noise, and then meanders through a soundscape into a circuit-bent coda.
The first Cluster8 release is a proof-of-concept or a manifesto of sorts. It features some early experiments in the format, and a long jarring audio experiment using the "Volvoice" function of the Nintendo DS game Electroplankton by Toshio Iwai.
